School Grants Applications for 2012-2013
FRIENDS OF PLEASANT BAY COMPETITIVE SCHOOL GRANTS
ACADEMIC YEAR
2012-2013
Purpose:
To promote the education, research and public awareness in matters of critical environmental concern to the Towns of Brewster, Chatham, Harwich and Orleans, with special emphasis on the Pleasant Bay estuary and watershed. The Grants are offered in two categories: Science and Humanities (Arts, History, and Literature).
Eligibility:
The competition is open to the teachers of the above disciplines in the schools serving: Brewster, Chatham, Harwich and Orleans (includes Nauset Regional District).
Grant Period:
The Grants will be for the academic year 2012 – 2013
Grant Amounts:
Grants will be for up to $2,000.00, with and additional grant for transportation if necessary.
Applications:
Applications will be available from the principals of each school and can also be downloaded from our website www.fopb.org.
Deadlines:
Proposals must be submitted no later than March 1, 2012. The Grant recipients will be announced on or about April 30, 2012. The FOPB Grant Committee along with the approval of the FOPB Board of Directors will make the selection of the recipients.
Conditions:
The grants may be used for teacher training, hardware, other equipment, student field work, and/or any activity which addresses the stated Purpose. The principals signature on the application indicates that the proposal is consistent with school policy.
Recipients will submit written reports of their progress by January 15, 2013 for publication in the FOPB Newsletter. At the teacher’s convenience, members of the FOPB would like to visit the class during the academic year. The recipients are also invited to attend the annual meeting in July to display the results of their work.
